Memorial day at the shore

We took the girls to the shore for memorial day weekend. Aunt Pip was here from CA. We had our first official beach day. The girls were really good but it was hot and buggy. We stayed a little bit then took some good pics and called it a day. There are some more on the photo bucket site. We are all rolling over now, including me and Mike!!! Lila rolled half way to the laundry room the other day. You can see them starting to realize they can crawl next. They pull their knees up under them but then get stuck!! Lila and Olivia have started picking up food off their trays and feeding themselves. OK, they only really eat one out of three but at least they are trying!! Lila is much more accurate than Liv. Ava just pushes the puffs around until they are all on the floor. After a meal, we scoop the puffs out of the high chairs and save them for next time!!! I have been giving them cut up cooked carrots, pieces of tofu, watermelon. It is really funny to see them "chewing", but they do well with it. I also tried Earth's Best chicken and sweet potatoes in the jars. They ate it fine but I think I will make them chicken next time. The jarred stuff seems kinda gross to me. I shouldn't expect them to eat something I wouldn't. And Yes, I do eat tofu!!!
They are just growing so fast. They are wearing 12 months summer clothes!! I can't believe we are the parents of 8 month old triplets!!! It is just crazy!! This time last year, we kept saying "just wait until this time next year"!!! Here we are, it seems like it went so fast.

We were out for our morning constitution today (morning walk) and went past Beeler Elementary up the street. This woman comes across the parking lot at me and I prepare for the usual round of dumb triplet questions. She introduces herself as the principal and says that alot of parents have been telling her about the triplets in the neighborhood. She wanted to see them for herself!!! Looks like our reputation precedes us!! She will really get to see them in a couple of years when they are tearing up that school!!! With Lila in the lead!!

We tried teething cookies...

Those things should come with a warning "anything within 5 feet of this cookie will be covered in gross, cookie slime"!!! The girls loved them though. I tried to take them away and they cried. See for yourself.

We went down the shore last weekend. The girls really love to be on the go. We went to Ocean City boardwalk one day and the Cape May Zoo the other. Funny thing, we ran into Bridget and Jesse and their 3 girls on the boardwalk!! I let the girls try some ice cream. Ava wasn't crazy about it but Lila and Olivia liked it!!The zoo was fun. We packed a picnic lunch and fed the girls there. Olivia and Lila just talked the whole time. Poor Ava, she has been so many places but never knows it because she falls asleep!!!

Guess What? The girls have feet!! Yes we know but they just found out!! It is really funny to see them grabbing their feet, Lila tries to eat them. Olivia and Ava roll all over the place. Lila still scoots around on her back. They are eating so well. Lila even "chews" pieces of cooked carrot. Olivia and Ava don't really care for chewing that much. I guess they are lazy and like to not have to work.It is crazy how big the girls are getting. When we hold them to stand they look like toddlers!!! Getting real good at sitting too. Although I wouldn't let them sit without me behind them, they are still a little top heavy.

The girls have a new cousin to meet. My cousin Chris and his wife Sandy had a little girl. Emily arrived last week. They are all doing well. Hopefully early next year, the girls will have another playmate. Our good friends Mike and Jen May are adopting a little girl from Vietnam. They are hoping for January. We are excited to meet her.

Happy Mother's Day!

Our first mother's day was a great success!! We took the girls into the city for our breast cancer walk. They were great the whole time, even with all those people. Olivia never cried in the middle of 45,000 people!!!! It took us just under 2 hours to finish. Not too bad considering all the stops we had to make - who is hungry, who is cranky!! We ended up have a big team. Mike's parents, Jen, Mike, Kathy, Jim, Eddie, Bobby, Uncle Dave, and Jake made up The Pink Zinks. It was really powerful to see so many people there and be part of something so big. It is even more powerful to see so many survivors, they wear special pink shirts, and think that there are so many more who didn't get to walk this year. It is a good feeling to know that our little donation and our presence can really make a difference. It was really important to be there with our girls. Our website can still take donations until June. Thanks to our team for walking with us and to everyone who has helped us reach our goal and make a difference no matter how small we think it is.

We had a nice brunch at our house after the walk. The girls were pooped and so were we. Mike and I both got a chance to nap after everyone left. This mother's day was quite different than last year. I was in the ER last year on mother's day. Wasn't sure that we would be celebrating mother's day this year but here we are!!! Three healthy little girls that are a handful. Ava's vocabulary no longer includes "ma-ma". Everything is "da-da" and one "pop-pop". She is just the happiest baby I've ever seen. She laughs at anything, she laughs when she looks at Lila. And Lila, she loves to give kisses. Big, wet kisses. We call it shark attack when she comes after your cheek. Speaking of cheeks, Olivia is rolling all around. She is proving the pediatrician's theory wrong. " The bigger the stomach the longer to roll over!!" We are still waiting for Lila to make it all the way over. She gets over just enough to reach what she wants. Livi is really teething, chewing everything. And she holds her bottle really good.

Here are some pics from over the weekend. Enjoy!!!

Sleepover!!!

The girls are having a sleepover in Burlington tonight!! My parents are taking them so Mike and I can have a break. Of course, our plans include dinner and a movie if we can stay awake!!! Mike has his RDO tomorrow so we might go up to Great Adventure, then pick up the girls in the afternoon.

Mike has an audition with "Millionaire" in New York at the end of the month!!! He got so tired of seeing the dumb people they put on the show and decided he could win some money. So he put in an application and has to go take the test and interview after Memorial Day weekend. The people who get on the show use their lifelines to figure out their middle names!!! Hopefully he gets on, he has a strange memory for trivia and useless info so maybe it will win us some money!!!!

I know I promised pictures so here they are. The girls are doing well. Babbling and rolling around. They kinda do the Curly Shuffle. Lay on their backs and roll back and forth which gets them all over the place. No one is crawling yet which I guess will signal the end of whatever sanity we have left!!! They had their first taste of tofu this week. We have funny video of them "chewing" it. But then Ava starts gagging and the video ends with me in panic mode. She was fine but you know how it is!!!!

Wish us luck on Sunday. We will be thinking of Grams as we walk. How crazy would she be for these girls!!! Singing Dean Martin and learning to play cards!!! We'll post some pics of us after the walk!!

Lunch time is too much for Ava!

Super Shoppers!!

That's right the girls are learning young how to spot a bargain. My mom and I took the girls to the Cherry Hill Mall yesterday in search of some deals. You all know that my epitapth one day will read " Never pay full price"!!! The girls were great, I think they liked all the attention. Well, except for Olivia but you know strangers can't look at her or she will turn to stone!!! I got some needed summer stuff and they got a few cute outfits. I could give you the rundown on the discounts but I don't think that is why you read here!!!
Olivia rolled over on Wednesday. Of course, I was entertaining Lila and when I looked back, Olivia was on her stomach just looking around. Lila is talking much more now. She is really getting vocal. Ava talks from the time she gets up till she goes to bed. Ma-ma, da-da, ba-ba are in her repetoire. They started getting yogurt with their breakfast and so far seem to like it. I think the first time they had it they were confused because it was cold. All of their food and bottles have always been warm or room temp before. But they got used to it and are little chow hounds now.
We are going to meet Mike for lunch on the base today. These girls really get around!! Thank goodness they are so social. They love being out in a new place and really love the outdoors. We try to go for a walk almost every day. Especially with the nice weather we are having. It does seem to get easier to get out with them after some practice. You have to live by one rule "Take only what you need to survive"!! Anything extra is just weighing you down!!! I guess when you have three the neccesities pile up quickly. Well, gotta go put on Sesame Street. That is their one hour of TV for the day. They really do watch it. I'll add some pics tonight or tomorrow.
