First I should say that our doctors' appointments went very well. Ava's visit to CHOP was really good. The neurosurgeon's exact words were "Take this perfectly normal baby and go home." He looked at Ava’s images from her last ultrasound for a few minutes, felt her soft spot, and measured her head. He asked about her milestones and development and said he doesn’t see any issue with her head. He said what the radiologist deemed as an increased amount of fluid in Ava’s head, he saw as normal. So, we left after just a few minutes and Ava is still fine.
Lila went to see an orthopaedic specialist about her leg earlier this week. The ortho checked her out and said she will be fine. What she has is not a permanent problem. She said that when she straightened Lila’s foot, that it did not resist, meaning Lila can straighten it, but she most likely doesn’t because she is used to that position from her “packaging” in the womb. She did say Lila’s hips were a little tight so we are going to get an ultrasound of them next week just to make sure there is no problem. The doctor doesn’t see this as a problem that needs correcting right now, so we will be taking her back in four months to make sure that it is not affecting her development in any way.
The ortho doctor suggested that we talk to the people at the early intervention services who can provide physical therapy for the girls. They qualify for this program, which is from the state, because of their prematurity. Lisa spoke to the woman from early intervention today and mentioned all the things that the girls are doing. The woman said she sees no reason for them to come do an evaluation right now because if they don’t need intervention now, we can not have them come back later. Essentially she told us to wait until they are older and, if they start showing signs that their development is being delayed, early intervention will come and perform their evaluation then.
They are all taking cereal every night and doing real well with it. We’re thinking it might be the reason for them starting to sleep better. We manage to get them down between 9:30 and 11 each night. Olivia always wakes up around 3 or 4 to eat and then goes back down. The other two sometimes wake up, but more often than not, they sleep through until about 7.
Lisa is out having dinner with her south jersey triplet mom group, so my mom and dad are here helping me during cranky time (the girls have a nice little cranky period every evening).

Great photo! Like the Beatles (or Oasis) or something - what cutie pies!
They are beautiful!! Thanks so much for sending us the notice and the site address so we could see the pictures and read the stories. Yes, Nishon and I are expecting our little boy the end of March. Compared to what you guys have gone through, it should be a piece of cake. Thanks again, and I am so happy to see how you are doing!!
